Homemade Breadcrumbs

Hello Medofopa, today I am sharing with you how I make my homemade breadcrumbs using stale bread.

You know how sometimes we end up having bits of leftover bread left in the fridge for too long and no one wants to eat it and finally they end up in the bin! Well, isn’t this such a waste of food and money! Certainly! But it shouldn’t be so anymore because now we can make good use of these stale bread.

One of the ways to make good use of stale bread is to make breadcrumbs out of them. Breadcrumbs can be used in many recipes as a coating for KFC style chicken in making meatballs, check out my meatball recipe as a coating for yam balls, also check out my yam balls recipe here  This list is endless, so making breadcrumbs and having it readily available is very useful.

Homemade Breadcrumbs

Ingredients

  • Stale bread

Instructions

  • Break up the stale bread into smaller pieces to help it evenly toast and dry up.
  • Using an air fryer (or oven) bake the bread at a temperature of 180 - 150 degrees celsius for about 20 minutes or until the bread is crisp and dry.
  • Using a mill or food processor, mill the crisp bread into crumbs. You can go for a fine or coarse texture depending on your preference.
  • Let the crumbs cool down and store in an air tight dry container. If using a glass jar, remember to sterilize the jar first.
  • Label the jar and store it for later use.
